First of all, please understand the relationship between company and plant, normally we translate company to 公司，translate plant to 工厂。so if you have a new plant which is separate from the original one, normall it's called the 2nd plant.....then we will create new plant since we also need to sparate purchase organization, sales,evaluation....

There is also another case that you need to create a new plant under one company, that is, in one company organization, you have several business unit sharing one system, but has its individual sales, purchasing and production. In such case, you may create individual plant code for each business unit to keep its individuality while still sharing some central functionality like FICO and HR.
